With a growing fleet as the one managed by Haque & Sons Ltd., marine training is of the utmost importance in ensuring that our people are best prepared to meet the highest and latest international standards of seamanship and engineering skills. We are continuously investing time and money to increase the competence of our sailing staff. Our training policy is to ensure that all persons employed are trained to be highly competent in the duties they perform. With this in mind, Haque & Sons Ltd board of directors has established two maritime training centers. The pre-sea training center "International Maritime Academy" where 100 cadets pass out every year and absorbed in our fleet, and post sea training center "Bangladesh Maritime Training Institute" where STCW courses, simulation based and in house courses are conducted on a weekly basis. International Maritime Academy The first private maritime academy in the country approved by the Department of Shipping. Two years in the academy and one year at sea (total 36 months). 50 Nautical and 50 Engineering cadets passes out every year. As a responsible employer in the marine industry, Haque & Sons Ltd is committed to the future in human resource development. It is our aim to constantly expand our pool of qualified senior and junior Officers to cover the future requirements of our customers' needs. The cadets commit to a five year contract with Haque & Sons Ltd after becoming certified officers to remain and sail with us. 1st , 2nd and 3rd batch IMA cadets are already serving on our managed vessels as 2nd officers. The IMA campus consists of seven acres land where a seven story administrative building consisting of 110,000 square feet space including Fire House, Life Boat, fully facilitated workshop. For more information go towww.internationalmaritimeacademy.org Bangladesh Maritime Training Institute Bangladesh Maritime Training Institute (BMTI) was established in 2001 to provide relevant upgrading training for Bangladesh Seafarers serving on board various foreign ships worldwide as per the requirements of STCW 2010, MLC 2006, Principal's (In house), Oil Majors and other statutory national and international regulations. It was built with the vision to only provide competent crew to meet the high standards and requirements in today's ever-changing shipping industry. We are approved by our National Shipping Administration DG Shipping Bangladesh for conducting STCW 2010 courses. BMTI has obtained ISO 9001:2008 from DNV-GL for its quality management system. We are the first maritime training institute to obtain such recognition. Bangladesh Maritime Training Institute has the following facilities located at their Training Center. Classroom Includes 180 deg Full mission bridge simulator, Radar, Arpa and ECDIS Simulator, GMDSS Simulator, Liquid Cargo handling simulator, Engine Simulator, Type Specific JRC approved training, Nautical instruments, Navigational Aids, Multimedia video projectors, Slide projectors, Public address systems, Training Videos, Modern well equipped classrooms, TV, Video & Audio systems. An Engineering Workshop with Air compressor, Engine Generator, Chemical Cargo Simulator, Power Saw, Shaping Machines, Bench Vices, Pipe bending Machine, Center Lathes, Arc & Gas Welding Machines, Drilling Machines, Hand Shearing Machines, Grinding Machines, Life Boat Engine, LSA/FFA Equipment's, Lathe Machine, Various Container Lashing Materials, Various Safety Posters. Our instructors are all Master Mariners and Chief Engineers who have long time experience in that specific type of vessel and use their expertise to further improve the quality and standard of crew.
